Amerie....Just Because

I love Amerie! And I'm really excited for her upcoming album "In Love & War", which is due September 8th on Def Jam Records. The albums lead single Why R U was just released to radio last week, and the official music video premiered on June 8th. I'm really loving the single and the video alot.
Why R U - Amerie

In Love & War is set to feature production from The Buchanans, Brian Michael-Cox, Jim Jonsin, Teddy Riley, Rico Love, Sean Garrett, and Eric Hudson.

I happened to come across this album cover on the internet. Not from the upcoming album, but its from a Greatest Hits album that was released in Japan awhile back. The cover is ferosh! Wurk mama....

Spring 2010: Dsquared²

I really loved the collection twin brothers Dean and Dan, put together for their Dsquared². Every season they have a theme. In the past I thought the themes were a bit kitschy. One season it would be Indy Race Car Driver, another season would be Hip Hop Rapper. This season the theme was somewhat of a camping theme. Think of a very stylish hipster boyscout camping in going camping in Milan. Even though the themes can seem kind of silly some seasons, the clothes are always very wearable, and not just for the purpose of the runway presentation.

Adam: Unsigned Model

Model: Adam Prudin
Photographer: Shaunbraxton.com
Lately I've really been getting into Photography. Nothing serious, just as a hobby. But my love for fashion, lead me to start taking pictures. I bought a Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR camera on EBay, about a year ago, and I've been hooked ever since. I love using natural sunlight to shoot. Adam is the latest model that I shot. We shot in an area in Brooklyn by the Brooklyn Bridge, referred to as D.U.M.B.O. (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). I've shot there a few times. I mostly prefer to shoot guys. I photographed a girl once, and it was just too much drama with hair and makeup, etc. And to be completely honest the images came out horrible. But I mainly blame that on the "Bozo the Clown" makeup. Maybe one day I'll post them for a good laugh. See more of my photography work here: www.Modelmayhem.com/srbinc

.....my Mya mixtape

The other day a friend of mine was looking at my blog. And for the most part she seem to like it, exept for a few postings. Most notably my post on Mya. She doesn't care for her. I had to try and plead her case. But either your a fan or you're not. I guess that goes for any artist. So I told her I would make a mix CD for her, of some of Mya's lesser known music.

Mixtape List: in No Particular Order
  • Step -featuring Missy Elliott
  • Why you gotta look so good
  • Walk not a talka -featuring Snoop Dogg
  • I am
  • Ridin'
  • How you gonnna tell me
  • Fallen
  • Late
  • Must be the music
  • About my B.I. -Shawty Lo featuring Mya

Alexander Wang does the GAP

Not since the pre-millennium, have I paid much attention to the GAP clothing stores. Even though I worked there on 2 separate occasion during my college years, I have lost complete interest. I tried to give it a go when Designer Patrick Robinson, was named head creative director a year or two ago. But it was a no go. I suppose with all the competition of the H&M's of the world (another store I try to avoid), the GAP has become pretty clever at catching on, and trying new ways to catch the consumer’s eye.

I was walking up 5th avenue yesterday and to my surprise the GAP stores have began their 2nd collaboration with CFDA winner Alexander Wang. A designer known for his young, fresh, slightly punkish vibe. Who creates both men and womens wear for his own signature line. The Gap capsule collection for women consists of all cotton Khaki fabric, a longstanding GAP Trademark. I must say, I was really loving the pieces, enough to do some internet research....and then blog about it! Khaki Motorcycle jackets, pleated narrow khaki pants, ethnic printed dresses. Very clean, simple and fresh, and most importantly... modern.

Kelis....Just Because

With all the Baby Mama/Divorce Drama surrounding Kelis & Nas this week, I started to reflect on Kelis and her music. Even though shes like 8 months pregnant, and looking a bit of a mess lately (and ever since she married Nas, in my opinion) I do love Kelis. And more importantly, I love her music. My top picks from the Kelis discography:

*Kelis Was Here Album:
Bossy feat. Too Short
Til The Wheels Fall Off
Trilogy
Like You

*Tasty Album:
Suga Honey Iced Tea
Glow
Millionaire Feat. Andre 3000

*Wanderland Album (Import only):
Popular Thug feat. Pusha T
Perfect Day

*Kaleidscope Album:
Good Stuff feat. Terrar
Caught Out There
Get Along With You
I Want Your Love

Mya: Sugary & Spicy...and now perfect

My girl Mya is re-releasing her 5th studio album Sugar and Spice on Manhattan Records on August 5th. But this version is called the Perfect Edition. Cute title. It includes a remix of her first single Paradise, remixed by Ryan Leslie. This album is only being released in Japan, as was the original version. No word on if any video have been shot or will be shot for the re-release. Mya is then set to release her 6th Studio album in the USA sometime in 2010.

Eliezer Unsigned model....

Eliezer is an unsigned model I photographed recently. He is from the Dominican Republic. I gave him a list of NY agencies he should contact. I think he has real potential. I could see him maybe shooting for a J.Crew catalog.
