Mya, so sugary and spicy!

I have to say, I love Mya. She's one of the very few artist, I actually keep a look out for. Always rooting for her. Her last album, Liberation, was never released from Motown records. I believe it was only release digitally in Japan. But she's keepin it moving. Come December 3rd, she's releasing a new album in Japan called Sugar and Spice on Manhattan Records. Finally caught some brand new promotional images, including her album cover, and they are super fly. Hopefully more to come very soon. Her first single is called Paradise. Though I'm not feeling the song, I understand shes gearing it to a Japanese audience. Having travelled around Asia myself, I totally get it. I wish her the much success!

And the guys from Dsquared are providing the wardrobe. These are shots taken from a fitting, for the tour. Lovvvvvve!

See more, Seymour!

Stephanie Seymour is without a doubt a beauty. And I find the more she ages, the more beautiful she becomes. When alot of models start high fashion, then try to become more commercial, appeal to a wider audience and lose their eddge, Stephanie did the opposite. She started as swimsuit model & Playboy. Then started doing Versace ads. and had beome legendary ever since. This past week she walked in the Spring 09 Hermes show in Paris, and looked amazing. But even more amazing was the layout she did for the September 08 issue of American Elle, shot by Jacob Sutton. One of my favorites editorial spreads in a long time. Amazing light, super clean, and fresh. The layout is like a tall glass of dasani water. clean and crisp. and easy to enjoy. Enjoy the images in all their simplicity.

Versace, Mizrahi, Liberace, oh my!

Versace Spring 09

I wouldn't ever refer to myself as a huge Versace fan. It's always beautiful gowns, always glamorous and sexy. But I'm never dying to see the collection each season, because I usually know to expect. Long, sometimes short, draped silk jersey dresses. Usually in a shade of hot pink or turquoise, and occasionally black. Last season they used some Yellow. The expected is always....well expected with Versace. and thats not really a bad thing. I mean they aren't trying to reinvent the wheel. They're just giving their customer what they want. For the Spring 09 collection, presented a few days ago in Milan, there were some pretty things to nibble on, but there were a few pieces that really caught my eye. Some really interesting prints, with a kaleidoscope of color. Love!

U betta wurk, Ms. Banks!

Its been awhile since I've purchased V magazine. I usually put my money down for Vman magazine. (the male version) But for some reason I bought the big ol' V. This magazine is huge. It barely fits in my bag. I hesitated because it was it was sealed in plastic, and I hate taking a magazine home and being disapointed. I didn't even realize until I got home that it was Christy Turlington on the cover. Barely recognized her. But the highlight, that made the purchase worth it, amongst other things, was a really great layout with Tyra Banks. Doing her version of Mahogany. First the cover of September08 Harpers Bazaar, now this. Tyra needs to do more modeling. She can light up a page. I remember Tyra in her modeling hey day. Walking the runways on Oldham and Mizrahi. Shes legendary, and no one can't take that away. wurk!

TommyBoy

Tommy Hilfiger Spring 09
I can remember being a kid, and my mom buying me Tommy Hilfiger clothes for Christmas. and then the next day returning them back to the department store. My mom baffled, then asks me her famous question, that I've heard so many times in my lifetime, " isn't that what the kids are wearing?" Tommy has never been my cup of tea. PETA's slogan is "I'd rather go naked then wear fur, well I had rathered go naked than wear Tommy Hilfiger.....back then. Early in his career He had the audacity to put himself on the same level as Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein.

No!
How do you have a full collection, runway presentation and all, with nothing but jeans, and hoodies, and t-shirt, with your name all over it, and call yourself a designer. Well it was only a matter of time, until things statred going down hill. A few years ago TH took some time away from presenting his collection, and then reemerged about 2 years ago. And I have to say. Every season since then, its been getting better and better. Last season, Fall08, was probaly one of my favorite shows of that season. This season for Spring09, things were a bit toned down. The women's collection, could have used a bit my bang, but none-the-less, it was well put together.

Its all about taking a moment, taking a step back, chill a bit, focus, planning, then reemerge harcore, and Execute. With the slogan "how you like me now" spray painted across your chest. We all can take a lesson, from time to time.

Dapper, Dandy, Preppy...with a cherry on top!

Thom Browne: Spring 2009 Collection
Its always interesting to see where men's fashion goes, and how it evolves year after year. One year all guys are wearing super baggy jeans, five years later its super skinny. One look that seems to be really big right now, is this dapper/prepster look. Bowties, repp ties, cardigan, v-neck sweaters, etc. I guess Kanye has a lot to do with this. I definitely have more than my fair share of cardigans in my closet, but I'm starting to get kinda bored with it. Maybe because its popping up everywhere. And like everything, its only a matter of time, until it really catches up with the masses, and becomes completely passe.

One NYC collection (amongst others) I look forward to checking out each season is Thom Browne. I would describe his look as American classic prepster on drugs....In a good way. Sort of a Ralph Lauren, with a twisted sense of humor. But I'm curious to see how his look will evolve in, say, the next 5 years (if the label still exist) once mens fashion shifts onto something else. He's been doing this "look" consistently for the last couple of season. But theres only so many times you can reinterpret a look before you start to repeat yourself. But for now it seems to work.

Amber Louise from Alabama

Some people enjoys a nightcap before bed. I enjoy alittle Will and Grace before drifting off to sleep. Last night I finally saw the episode guest starring Britney Spears. I feel like i've seen just about every episode of WAG, times 4. But for some reason I've never seen this episode. And I must say, Britney was damn funny. She played Amber Louise from Alabama.

Favorite Line by Amber Louise:
"I'm not who you think I am. My real name is Peg. And I'm a hardcore lesbian. I'm into leather play, butch white girls, skunkin', pullin' the blinds, and poodle balling. Whatever you got, I'll eat it, snort it, or ride it, baby."

Classic!

Wurk it out Solange!

I'm usually not one to sit through a 2 hour live show, but I actually sat through most of the Fashion Rocks 08 show, put on by Conde Nast Media. Ummmm, wasn't totally feeling all of it. Pussy Cat Dolls, were hot, and they weren't even on the bill. Beyonce sounded great. Looked amazing. And her duet with Justin Timberlake was hot. Mariah was a complete bore. But I have to say my girl Solange shut it down! Check her out. Performing I decide pt.1.

The wide leg is back!

I love what Stafano Pilati did for the Fall 2008 Yves Saint Laurent men's collection. Finally, wide leg trousers. I'm so damn sick of the skinny pant/jean. It's so yesterday.

slim jean: OK

skinny jean: NO

wide leg: Yes
