So Very Hollywood Dahling!

September is great for a lot of different reasons. The Spring runway shows are shown, the changing of the weather....my Birthday. But something I look forward to quite a bit , I must say, are designer's ad campaigns for their Fall collection. It always pretty exciting. Its not so much about the clothes, those I can see through photos of their runway shows. Its more about the photography, the models, the mood, the direction. How the designer decides to interept the clothes for commercial sale, while still keeping their images and artistic integrity. One campaign that has stood out to me is for Michael Kors. I love it! To sum it up its Hollywood Glamour. Which is something i'm not usually into. Buts done in a such a real way, that only Michael could do. The campaign was shot by Photographer Mario Testino, and stars supermodel Carmen Kass (Women Management) and Noah Mills (Wilhelmina). The campign for the fall collection and his new frangrance "Very Hollywood" go hand in hand. I wonder if the time spent in LA filming the current season of Project Runway, inpired Michael this season. My guess would be yes!

Just call me Ms. Cassie, if you're nasty...

I have to say, I really like Cassie. I purchased her first album (on bootleg), and plan on purchasing her second, ElectroLove, whenever it does eventually come out (on bootleg or free download, of course...shh). So many songs have been leaked, I pretty much have her second album already created. some songs are good, and some, well... are not. I'm really loving the songs "Up in Here" & "Stamina", those songs are playing on heavy repeat right now. And I also like "Official Girl" featuring Lil Wayne, which a video was shot for, but didn't do to well. Currently floating around are some images from some clothing label called Dime Piece, which from what I understand, Cassie models for their upcoming lookbook. I'm a follower of fashion, and I have to be honest, I've never heard of this label. And again....just being honest, the line looks like a bunch of overpriced t-shirts & Denim, and fabric weirdly sewn together to look like skirts. With buttons and other trimming sewn on for good measure. Alas, a clothing line. So easy a chimpanzee can do it. But the actual images of Cassie and the photography are very well done. The lighting is on point. But other than that, I'll pass.

*Bonus: I couldn't let a post go about Cassie, without showing her ferocious outfit from the 2009 BET awards. werq bish!!

Grey Vetiver by Tom Ford

Tom Ford is set to release his 3rd mens fragrance this Fall 2009. I'm a massive fan of Tom Ford's colognes. I own the first two releases Tom Ford for Men and Tom Ford Extreme. And he also created my all time favorite frangrance M7 by Yves Saint Laurent, when he was creative director there a few years ago. M7 is discontiued. So its pretty hard to find sometimes.  He tends to lean more toward musky scents. Which I love. I cannot stand Citrusy colognes. They are soooo 1990's....and they smell really cheap. Grey Vetiver's top note consist of Vetiver, which a long grassy plant used for its root oil. After some internet research, it has a scent of grasses, plants, and leaves. A perfect way to arouse the senses. I'm looking forward to this release.
*The 1.7 oz bottle (a frosted glass version of the iconic TF men’s fluted bottle) will be $85.00 and is set to be released September 2009. TomFord.com

Amerie: Push It Back

Def Jam recording artist Amerie, is getting set to release her fourth album "In Love & War". It was recently pushed back from its original release date of September 29th, to now November 3rd, after the first single "Why R U" didn't do so well. Her new single "Heard 'Em All" was produced by Sean Garrett and Eric Hudson. And I must say, I am loving this song. Its got a tribal, hypnotic thing going on. But Amerie Must make the video CRAZY, for it to pop off properly. This is the offical cover for the single:
Here are other promo images from the Love and War era:

Sessilee Lopez has definitely been practicing!

Almost a year ago I blogged about model Sessilee Lopez in W magazine alongside Tyra Banks, for the Mahogany story. Gorgeous girl, but she did nothing for the spread. It should have been Tyra, solo. But last month I saw her in the June issue of Vogue Italia, and she brought it.... big time! The spread, shot by photographer Tom Munro, is one spread that has really stood out to me from the last few months. Ferosh!

Ferosh Alert: Eau Mega by Viktor & Rolf

This has to be, without a doubt, the most ferocious thing I've seen all week.
I consider myself a bit obsessed with fragrances. The campaigns, the bottles, the regional releases and all that sort of stuff. Viktor and Rolf designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren are launching a new fragrance called Eau Mega. And they never let me down. This is a follow-up to their widely successful fragrance Flowerbomb. The ad campaign Photographed by Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin features the Eau Mega bottle and supermodel Raquel Zimmermann, against the skyline of New York City. Absolutely Ferosh!

Eau Mega eau de parfum spray will retail for $75, $100, and $149 for the 75-ml edition.

*Ethnic Male Models @ Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy

Riccardo Tisci's runway show for the Spring 2010 Givenchy menswear collection was great for a number of reasons. The clothes had an edgy simplicity to them. With a somewhat punk aesthetic, consisting of just red, black and white colored fabrics. But one of the biggest highlights was the use ethnic models. Its been such a long time, especially in European collection, that a designer has used so many ethnic models in one show...without it seeming like a gimmick.

Spring 2010: Marni

Another favorite from the Spring 2010 Men's collections in Europe was Marni. Even though I love fashion and follow it hardcore, there not to many things I could realistically see myself actually wearing on a daily basis walking down the street, regardless if I had the money to purchase or not. This Marni collection is one I could definitely see myself in. I really love the choices of 1960’s surfer colors, and the slim cut of the trousers, though they aren’t to tight. I also was really feelin’ how the collection was styled, with how the trousers were being rolled up, to the bags that were added. Definitely one of my top picks for Spring 2010. www.Marni.com

Spring 2010: Trussardi 1911

Another collection I enjoyed, from the Spring 2010 men's shows in Europe, was Trussardi 1911. Most of the collection consisted of Red White and Blue. But some of the stand out pieces for me were denim and khaki looks. There was something very all American about it.

R.I.P. VIBE folds 1993-2009

I read the VIBE magazine will close immediately. The magazine was thee main go-to Urban Music Resource during the 1990's.... and slowly dragged down through the new Millennium. VIBE magazine leaves a very special place in my heart, because I interned there after college in the Fashion department for awhile. I worked under Fashion Director Memsor Kamarake, and the experiences were incredible. And I take what I learn with me today. The August 2009 issue with Dream and Christina Milian on the cover will be its last. The cover makes me sad, for a number of reason. It just goes to show you how desperate things got towards the end.

Amerie....Just Because

I love Amerie! And I'm really excited for her upcoming album "In Love & War", which is due September 8th on Def Jam Records. The albums lead single Why R U was just released to radio last week, and the official music video premiered on June 8th. I'm really loving the single and the video alot.
Why R U - Amerie

In Love & War is set to feature production from The Buchanans, Brian Michael-Cox, Jim Jonsin, Teddy Riley, Rico Love, Sean Garrett, and Eric Hudson.

I happened to come across this album cover on the internet. Not from the upcoming album, but its from a Greatest Hits album that was released in Japan awhile back. The cover is ferosh! Wurk mama....

Spring 2010: Dsquared²

I really loved the collection twin brothers Dean and Dan, put together for their Dsquared². Every season they have a theme. In the past I thought the themes were a bit kitschy. One season it would be Indy Race Car Driver, another season would be Hip Hop Rapper. This season the theme was somewhat of a camping theme. Think of a very stylish hipster boyscout camping in going camping in Milan. Even though the themes can seem kind of silly some seasons, the clothes are always very wearable, and not just for the purpose of the runway presentation.
